About Michelle

Michelle Austin is a Vice President in Kaufman Hall's Revenue & Operations Improvement practice with nearly 30 years of healthcare experience, including more than 18 years in performance improvement leadership. Over the past three years, she has led large-scale, operational and financial transformation engagements for hospitals and health systems.

Michelle brings deep expertise in comprehensive operational and financial assessments, complex implementation efforts, and PMO design and deployment. Grounded in Lean principles and disciplined performance management, she partners with executive leadership teams to translate strategy into structured execution-establishing governance, driving accountability, and embedding data-informed decision-making to achieve measurable, sustainable results.

Prior to joining Kaufman Hall, Michelle held senior executive roles within an integrated health system, where she led multidisciplinary operational divisions and supported large capital growth initiatives. Her background includes revenue cycle transformation, enterprise project governance, and oversight of diverse operational service lines within acute care environments.

Michelle earned a BAA, Summa Cum Laude, and an MBA in healthcare management, Summa Cum Laude, from Marylhurst University. She is also Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
